Forty-five minutes later, Harry finally heard a quiet knock. He straightened his tie and strode over, opening it just in time to see Draco turning away.

“Took you long enough,” Draco scoffed from some feet away. “Thought you weren’t interested anymore.”

“Don’t play evil. You’re fifteen minutes late. Your knock was barely audible,” Harry chided. “But it’s okay, I was listening carefully.” He reached for Draco’s hand and brought him inside. “I also used the extra time well.”

“I’ve never been in your quarters before,” Draco said, looking around, openly curious.

“Doesn’t usually look like this,” Harry said, and chuckled.

“That’s a relief,” Draco said, but his sneer appeared half-hearted. His gaze was clearly caught.

Harry’d turned his ordinary teacher’s rooms into a facsimile of a fancy café. He’d set a small table with finger-food delicacies and a fine red wine. Around that, fairy lights and shimmering silver curtains flowed over every wall, hiding the boring necessities living spaces required.

All Draco would see around the table was clean wooden floors and the silver decor. With delicate green threads. Hoping to please, Harry had filled his rooms with Slytherin colors.

“You are an evil boy,” Draco sighed. But he sat.

“How could you say such evil things?” Harry chided, gently. He smiled to soften the effect, then poured each of them half a glass of red and offered Draco the plate of charcuterie. Draco pouted, but nonetheless selected several options before tasting one. It was marvelous, if the look on his face was enough to go by. He wiped it blank, but Harry had seen.

“I also have olives and crackers,” Harry began, but Draco interrupted.

“You changed clothes,” Draco said, narrowing his eyes at Harry.

“I wanted to dress up for you,” Harry agreed, and tried not to blush.

Harry ran one finger down his green tie. Molly had bought it for him because “it’s just the color of your eyes!” The spell on it crackled under his touch. Silk was a bitch to clean, so Harry tended to just ward it in advance. He hoped Draco wouldn’t notice, but Draco narrowed his eyes. He looked almost evil like that. Harry resigned himself to teasing, or worse.

“Is that suit… bespoke?”

“Oh, I suppose so? I don’t tend to look good in off the rack suits,” Harry said, caught off guard. He looked at his plate. “I’m too short.”
