“Sometimes,” Draco says, tilting his empty glass so that the emptiness spills out onto the ground, “sometimes I can’t believe you didn’t fail.”
“It wasn’t just me,” Harry says. His teacup is still half full, bergamot and citrus drifting up in the spiralling steam.
Draco laughs. “Bloody buggering fuck,” he says. “When I think that I was the master of the Elder Wand—” He shakes his head.
“Just as well you didn’t know,” Harry says, leaning over to elbow him in the side. “What would you have done, anyway?”
“Not a clue,” Draco says. He lifts the empty glass, toasts.
