I'm so sorry! I think this must be a cultural difference. I recall you've said you are in Germany? Here in the US that's simply meant as a joke to indicate only that you've spoken your mind quite strongly. It doesn't mean you should stop doing so. :) I was afraid my American humour wouldn't work, but I decided to give it a shot, anyway.
As for feedback, I do want it! I want to know what you are thinking and feeling. I am so glad you tell me! I guess it feels a little weird when we don't completely agree, but that's my problem, not yours!
See, I do not feel nearly as angry at, or appalled by, the Narcissa in this piece as I know you do. She is definitely manipulative -- much more than I think a parent should be -- but the circumstances she is currently in are also radically different than my "normal." She has an agenda, but it is based on what she believes is good or even best for her and her son. She wants him to be happy and safe and to do good in the world. She has no intention of leaving that to either chance, or the flailings of a stupid teenager. Even if he is HER stupid teenager. I guess it makes me a little sad that you hate her so much. But again, that's my problem, not yours. You feel however you want!
