Draco stands in front of the grandfather clock in the hall. The manor stretches out cold and quiet around him, silent now that the chips have fallen.
He waits, but the clock doesn’t ring the hour. The hands stand still, casting thin shadows on the face. Draco leans close, but the perpetual ticking sound is absent. The wood is cold.
There’s a shift, a waft of air. He spins around, reaching for a wand that isn’t there.
It’s Potter, hand outstretched. There, on his palm, rests Draco’s wand.
Draco opens his mouth, unsure of what might—
“Thank you,” Harry says.
