Draco bent his head to look at the proffered box, but did not take it from Harry — even as Harry thrust it at him uselessly.
“What is it.” Draco said, still far too angry to properly inflect it as a question.
Harry sighed and sat in the closest chair. “It’s a mobile. I got you a mobile.” Harry gently opened the box. “And the thing behind me there,” he waved over his shoulder without looking at the spindly, shiny contraption that had floated after him into the room and set itself gently on the floor, “is your Muggle Booster Line.”

Draco stepped closer, but remained standing and silent.
Harry turned the still spotless mobile on, then manuevered to show Draco his list of contacts.
“Hermione helped. Pansy and Blaise have mobiles now, too,” he said, pointing at their names. “She taught them to use theirs.”
Despite Draco’s continued lack of reaction, Harry was getting a bit excited. He’d worked so hard to make this gift. Surely Draco would see that and be pleased? Soon?
“Then I checked with all the rest of these old classmates,” Harry continued, pointing at names like Luna Lovegood, Seamus Finnegan, Dean Thomas and Justin Finch-Fletchly.

“Blaise and Pansy already have your new phone number, but these others here, in the list? They all just let me share their numbers with you. Because I wasn’t sure if you would want to call any of them. Just, er, the option? I was pretty sure you’d want to talk with Blaise and Pansy though?”
Harry swallowed and finally looked up into Draco’s stoic face. Somehow, he still wasn’t smiling.
“So, er, they both have your mobile number. In their new mobiles.” Harry was fully aware he was bumbling wordily toward nowhere, but he didn’t know how to stop.

“Right, so, I can show you how to make a video call? Um, if you... want the present.” Harry looked toward Draco again, but now he was walking away, looking out the window at the Forbidden Forest.
“This… project.” Draco sounds contemptuous, and Harry swallows. But he listens.
“This took three days?”
Draco is turned away, still intent upon the forest.
Harry attempts to answer honestly. “I maybe could have gone faster,” he says, feeling inadequate. “But I had to have three mobiles shipped? And build the Muggle Booster Line? And also test it? It was only my second one.”

Draco makes a strange noise Harry can’t interpret. Nervous and miserable, Harry waits. He would say more, but he fears he’s already said more than enough.
Silently, Draco pulled a pristine white handkerchief from a hidden pocket, and brought it to his face. Harry watched, stunned and confused, as Draco used it to dab at both eyes. Was Draco… teary?
“Oh Harry,” Draco sighed. He turned around to show off a face so unreadable that Harry felt something in his guts clench up in confusion and fear. Then Draco dabbed at his eyes once more. “You are such an idiot.”
