“I do not--” Draco stopped himself. He was angry, but probably shouldn’t be. He certainly didn’t want her to know, even if his indignation was justified.

“Why is this all news to me?” he said instead, feigning calm. Do you not think you should have told me before I went off to boarding school?”

“Why embarrass or upset you when I could just contain it magically?” Mother replied. “I did not expect you to break the charm yourself. You must have something you want to tell Harry very badly. I wonder what it is?”

Draco wanted to swallow his tongue.
