Harry met Malfoy halfway to the pitch. “Demand series?” he exclaimed, catching sight of Malfoy’s broom. “That’s not publicly available! The pandemic postponed the premier! How’d you get that?”
Malfoy’s smile was so self-satisfied, Harry wanted to smack it off his face.
“I helped design it,” Malfoy said. “During summers I do a lot of corporate drop-in work, to fill the time. There’s often a lot of potions application in brooms, did you know?”
Malfoy pointedly looked at Harry’s broom. When he didn’t find a brand mark, he frowned. Harry let him pull the broom right out of his hand.

Harry watched, his amusement increasing, as Malfoy examined his broom carefully, bristles to seat. He could tell when Malfoy felt the acceleration spells. He heard Malfoy hum when he noted the unusually and homogeneously long bristles - a feature usually reserved for brooms made on-demand for professional Quidditch players. He saw Malfoy’s eyes widen when he realized the broom completely lacked potion support, meaning all of its speed and maneuvering capability came from the magic in the bocote wood and the rider.
Finally, Malfoy looked up, the awe in his eyes only mostly hidden. “Potter,” he demanded. “What is this thing?”

“Made it myself,” Harry said, now smug enough for two. “From scratch. There’s a lot of spellwork in crafting brooms, did you know?” He took his broom back and hopped on.
“I have a key to the Quidditch shed,” Harry said, rising slightly off the ground, “First to the snitch, right? I’ll meet you there.”
Malfoy nodded once, still looking stunned, then before Harry could tear his eyes away — (Malfoy was gorgeous. Sue him.) — Malfoy’s focus sharpened and he threw a leg over the seat of his beautiful broom.
“Forget the snitch,” he said. “I demand a race.”
