Draco's mother spends two years bedridden before she passes beyond the veil. For those two years, Draco freezes so cold that Harry's hands burn when he holds him tight at her funeral. Harry finds Draco after, sitting off the edge of their bed. Harry kneels at Draco's feet so that he looks up into Draco's wet eyes. Draco's breath is hitching, his face moving like the slow planes of a glacier, tears sliding down his cheeks, melting like winter does to make way for spring. Harry knows it hurts now, but he also knows it'll be better soon. He knows.
