Sometimes, when Harry wakes up in the middle of the night, instead of rolling over in bed, tucking up next to Draco, and going back to sleep, he slips out of bed instead. The floorboards shift, cool beneath his feet as he leaves the room. There’s a small photo album that he keeps tucked between the books on the bottom shelf in the upstairs study; he pulls it out and takes it to the armchair, curling up in front of the empty hearth.
The first photograph is of his parents, waving. Harry stares at them, and tries to remember anything.
