Sometimes, Harry has trouble thinking about his parents as people. They’re just shadows in memories that have already faded.
“Mother is in France right now,” Draco comments, off-hand, when he catches himself before sending the weekly bouquet. Harry rests a hand on his shoulder in quiet comfort, breathes as Draco rests his head on Harry’s shoulder for a moment.
Later, Harry looks through his mother’s letters, his father’s photographs, and pieces the evidence together again.
“Harry?” Draco calls, bare feet whispering over the floorboards. Harry looks up, superimposing his parents on his own family, here in the dimness before dawn.
