The birds are loud early in the morning. Harry sits in the garden, sipping from his cup, and watches the way the sun flushes the sky with colour as it rises above the edge of the world.
The bedroom window is still open. Harry sits back and waits.
He hears Draco before he sees him. First the muffled sounds of cursing, then the echo of footsteps in the stairwell, and the hinges of the door.
“Eurgh,” Draco complains, shading his eyes as he glares out at the trees. “You early morning beasts.”
Amidst the birdsong and morning breeze, Harry laughs.
