“Then why spend days crafting this elaborate gift?”
Harry opened his mouth, utterly indignant — because what the hell sort of arsehole question is that? — then shut it. That’s… actually a reasonable… no, it’s actually a really good question, and he needed to think it over and answer it right. He needed to not only clear things up between them, he needed to make sure he didn’t create an even bigger misunderstanding by saying this all wrong.
“Well,” he started slowly, after taking a moment to think, “two reasons, I guess? I definitely wanted to impress you. And… you were lonely.”

“So. You could see I was lonely.” Draco eventually says.
Harry nods and swallows.
“But you nonetheless vanished for nearly three days without a word.”
Harry looks at his feet, then nods in shame.
“In order to do something that would allow me to contact Blaise, and Pansy, and all these other people, and talk to them whenever I like.”
Harry doesn’t raise his head, but he nods again. “Yeah,” he chokes out, hoping to be forgiven.
“And I assume it never occurred to you I might therefore accept your gift and talk to all of them, instead of you?”
