Harry can hear the soft murmur of voices in the study as he comes back down the corridor, Hermione probably asking Draco about his plans again. Harry pauses, leaning against the wall to breathe in, breathe out.
Maybe he’s projecting his own feelings onto Draco. Popular and scorned in turn. The papers has a field day when he announced he was going in for Quidditch rather than the Aurors, with literal factions in public opinion.
Draco doesn’t have to face that scenario, but he has his own demons to face. Is it wrong to want to give him breathing room?
