“At least try and look happy,” Ginny had hissed out of the corner of her mouth, “it’s our wedding day, not a bloody funeral!”
Harry had done his best to comply, but the photo in front of him showed that he had not been entirely successful.
His smile was much more genuine in the next picture, taken four months later, of him holding their new baby son.
Harry continued turning the pages of the album, watching his marriage unravel, until Draco leaned across him, tapping one of the images “Merlin Harry, you look like a serial killer in this one!”
Draco was right, he looked almost unhinged. Harry sighed, thinking back. “That’s Lily’s first time to Hogwarts photo,” he explained. “Gin and I had had another huge row about something stupid, I can’t remember what, and I’d realised I was done. We dropped the kids at King’s Cross, and I told her I wasn’t coming home.”
“Then I found you crying into your beer in the Leaky,” Draco said. He leaned over, closed the photo album and kissed Harry, adding “and the rest is history.”
Harry’s answering smile was wide and happy and full of love.
