“Oh my god, I need a drink!” Harry exclaimed as he stumbled out of the floo and collapsed into a chair.
“You’re supposed to have Dutch courage before an ordeal not after,” Draco said, handing him a generous measure of fire whiskey and sitting opposite.
Harry took a large gulp of his drink, coughing slightly as the spirit hit the back of his throat. He closed his eyes and let the alcohol warm and relax him.
“I presume she didn’t take it well then?” Draco asked. Harry sat forward, a rueful expression on his face as he spoke.
“Well it went ok, actually, to start with. She took it very calmly at first. I said we needed to call off the wedding. That I loved her,” Draco frowned at that, “but that I’m gay and it would never work. She didn’t even seem very surprised. We talked about cancelling the venue and letting people know and it was all going so well that I thought I might as well get it all over at once.”
“Oh, Harry!” Draco sighed, “You didn’t?”
Harry nodded. “I told her about us and she just went totally barmy!”
“Draco Malfoy?” Ginny had hissed. “Draco fucking Malfoy! I’ve been losing my mind about the seating plan for our wedding reception while you’ve been busy shagging Draco fucking Malfoy!” she bellowed. “Get out! Get out before I kill you with my bare hands!”
“So I scarpered sharpish,” Harry concluded. He shook his head in disbelief. “I said all along we should have a buffet and let everyone sit where they liked.”
Draco howled with laughter at that, to Harry’s confusion. “Never mind love,” he said patting Harry’s knee, “when we get married that’s what we’ll do.”
